Thadani

The Thadanis are an Amil family — part of the educated, administrative class that served as the civil service of Sindh under its successive rulers. Their name derives from an ancestor Thado or Thada, following the classic Sindhi -ani pattern. Amil families like the Thadanis were known for their Persian literacy, their service in government record offices (daftars), and their cultural refinement. They were the scribes, accountants, and administrators who made Sindh's complex multi-ethnic, multi-religious administration possible — a tradition that gave their descendants a strong educational ethic that persists today.
