The story of the Sadarangani surname
The Sadaranganis are named after an ancestor whose family managed land along the Sadarang Wah, a canal in the Kherpur region — their very name maps onto the Sindhi landscape. Their Ghera nukh links them to the Mahtanis and several other cousin families. As Bhaiband Lohanas, they combined agrarian land-holding (zamindari) with mercantile activity. Some branches earned the Diwan title through government service. The Bhaiband class, often overshadowed by the Amils in historical accounts, were in many ways the economic backbone of Hindu Sindhi society.
