The story of the Lala (Bhatia) surname

The Bhatia community — to which the Lala family belongs — carries one of Sindh's most ancient Rajput lineages. The Wandhoja nukh traces back to Jaisalmer in the Thar desert, where the Bhatias were part of the Rajput warrior-merchant class. From Jaisalmer they moved to Delhi, where they gained prominence under the Mughal court, before settling in Bakhar and Rohri along the sacred Indus.
